The magnificent sixteenth century building is situated where Calle Navas and Calle San Matías meet. Francisco Navas, a rich man of the time, ordered to build it with all the best characteristics of the time, that is, a dwelling around a courtyard or patio. It depicts the representative architecture of the time.
Some interesting details are, among many other: the original arches in the high floor, a stone bolster façade, the stone columns in the courtyard, a staircase leading to the gallery around the patio with its central fountain. Likewise, outstanding are the two side towers, the central balcony in the first floor, the two forged grilles and the small and well distributed hollows in the front.
The present good state of preservation is partly due to the ancient use of the building as Mint or “Casa de la Moneda ”. You can find the history of the city within the walls of the building.
